Ever wondered how life evolved and about its origin? Want to know about the Big Bang, cosmic evolution and the formation of the solar system? And how about lessons on Charles Darwin and his work?
Answers to all these questions and many more can be found in the new ‘Hall Of Evolution’ at the Nehru Science Centre on Dr E.Moses Road, Worli, which opened on Tuesday. Walk around and you will learn about the evolution of carbon films, body fossil and early human life, life forms and also the diversity of life.
Kapil Jain, who played a key role in setting up the hall said that it covers an area of 2,500 square feet and there are currently 30 exhibits.
There are several interactive stations, all functioning, he said.
The hall is divided into four sections—one deals with the universe, the second with the origin of life, the third is on Charles Darwin and the fourth is on human evolution.
The Darwin section tells us about his historic round-the-world , nearly five-year voyage on his ship, the HMS Beagle, during which he collected evidence about how life changes over time.
Visitors can go on a journey from the beginning of space and time to the formation of our planet and the processes that began on earth leading to the origin of diverse life forms.
