Maharashtra women’s and child welfare minister Pankaja Munde said self-defence training should be included in the syllabus and expressed disappointment over the media coverage given to crimes against women. “Girls should learn self-defence. I will demand that the education minister make self-defence training part of the academic syllabus,” said Munde. Education minister Vinod Tawde said the suggestion is under consideration. “We should not only train girls but also change the mindset of boys. We should make boys more gender sensitive,” said Tawde.
