A female attendant has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a nine-year-old student allegedly by three of her teachers at a Mira Road school.
The class IV student made the shocking revelation of the 49-year-old attendant’s role in her sexual exploitation two days after the three teachers—aged 46, 27 and 23—were arrested from their homes in Palghar and Dahanu for allegedly abusing her since one year. The complaint was registered on Monday.
The girl reportedly told the police that the attendant would take her from class saying that a teacher had called for her, leave her in a vacant room with one of the suspect teachers and later take her back to class. The girl has identified the attendant, who was then arrested on Wednesday, said the police.
The police claimed that the girl was sexually abused by the three teachers on separate occasions. Though it is not clear why the attendant was party to their ill-doings, the police have not ruled out the possibility of favours being doled out by the three teachers. While the teaching and non-teaching staff are being questioned, no case has been made against them yet.
Meanwhile, the parents of the girl and other students have alleged that the school is ignoring their complaints and not holding meetings. The ladies’ wing of several parties have demanded action against the management.
