Navi Mumbai: The Vashi GRP recorded the statement of the motorman of a CST-Belapur bound train as part of investigations into the alleged suicide incident of NCP’s Nerul corporator Shashikala Maladi (43). A train had hit the woman on the tracks between Govandi and Mankhurd on September 23.
Vashi GRP inspector Nitin Bobade said, “We had summoned three motormen of the trains that plied on the Harbour line in the evening hours. One of the motormen, identified as Rajendra Kumar Sharma (44), has said the train he piloted had hit the woman around 3.30 pm when the train had reached a curvature near the railway pole distance 20/2 km.”
Nerul police, conducting a parallel probe into the case, has not been able to trace a boy, the sole eyewitness, who had reportedly told a woman slum dweller he had seen the woman coming in front of the train.”
