Day before MU exams, many yet to get hall tickets

Even as the Mumbai University exams begin on Tuesday, students were running around for hall tickets on Monday as they weren’t generated through the varsity’s digital portal.

“On Monday, I and a few friends from college had to visit the university as our hall tickets were not generated. We were told that our pre-registration number (PRN) was not created and hence the hall tickets were not ready,” said a TY BCom student from a south Mumbai college. “After trying to figure out things all day, the PRN number was created and we have been asked to come to college before the exam. Our own college will be our centre,” he said.

The hall tickets cannot be generated unless students have a PRN which is created at the time of admission. “The college had not sent the right documents but no one told us until the last moment. For the past week, instead of studying, we have been visiting the college and university to get our hall tickets. We have also paid double fees for the hall ticket due to the delay,” said a student whose exam begins on October 8.

He is yet to receive his hall ticket from the college.

University officials however said there was no mistake or delay from their end. “No hall ticket is pending from our end if the student has a PRN. Colleges have been coming to us on the last moment to create PRN for their students. So the university is not at fault,” said controller of examination Deepak Wasave.
