The RCF police in Chembur have arrested three youths for allegedly gangraping a 17-year-old college girl. The three arrested accused have been identified as Salman, Irfan Shabaaz and Imran Shaikh. All are in the age group of 21 to 23 years.
The police have booked the three accused under the Pocso Act and IPC sections of rape and threatening. The accused will be produced in court on Sunday. The survivor, a first year student of a college in Chembur, reportedly had an affair with Salman, the police said.
Last week, under the pretext of taking a stroll, Salman took the girl on a bike and reached Shabaaz’s house in Chembur. There, he and Shahbaaz allegedly raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she narrated the incident to anyone. Later, another friend of the duo, Imran, started threatening the victim that if she didn’t have a relationship with him, he would reveal the gangrape to everyone.
