An elderly woman from Gorakhpur had a narrow escape as she tried to jump into an outstation train as it was leaving Thane station, but fell into the gap between the platform and the footboard of the train early on Tuesday.
Koushalya Gupta (68), who was travelling in the Gorakhpur-Mumbai Kushinagar Express with her husband Mithailal and relatives after visiting the Kumbh Mela in Nashik, suffered an eight-inch deep gash on her thigh and several minor bruises as co-passengers managed to pull her up to safety before the train could gain speed.
