Man killed after wife stabbed him 33 times in Mumbai

Police arrested a homemaker for stabbing and slitting her husband’s throat on the mezzanine floor of their house in a chawl located a Jogeshwari (East) slum locality on Saturday. Accused Jannat Ansari (45) killed her husband suspecting him having an illicit relationship with a woman from the locality. The Meghwadi police said Ansari killed using Yusuf, a fish seller, knife with which she stabbed him 33 times killing him on the spot. Police also recoverd the knife.

The matter was observed by Ansari’s neighbours when the accused ran out of their home claiming that he attacked her. “Neighbours did not allow the accused to leave the place and checked in their house and found the victim lying dead in pool of blood. They called the police and handed her to the police. She confessed of committing the crime because she was fed up with frequent fight Ansari had with her when she questioned his relationship with a woman,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone X) Vinayak Deshmukh.

The incident occurred at around 8.15am when the victim’s 22-year-old son, from earlier marriage, has gone out of their house. Accused is victim’s second wife while she has married three. They married a year ago. Accused has been booked under the Indian Penal Code section for 302 (murder).
