THANE: A 20-year-old boy from Khargon district of Madhya Pradesh has been arrested by the anti extortion cell of Thane crime branch for illegal possession of four fire arms and 30 cartridges from the Kongaon area of Bhiwandi. The accused –Mukesh Chauhan– is native of Dagadkhedi village of Khargon district in MP and is linked to the infamous Shikalkar gang.
NT Kadam, the senior inspector got a tip off that Chauhan is looking for customers to sell the four .32 bore pistols which are factory made hence they laid a trap near Laila bar of Rajnoli naka and trapped him. Upon frisking, the police found four .32 bore pistols along with four empty magazines and 30 live cartridges.
Kadam told TOI, that he has sourced the fire arms from someone with mere Rs 5000 and was trying to earn a profit by selling it at Rs 30000.
“We are investigating the source of the illegal fire arms and the further probe is underway,” Kadam informed.
A case has been registered under various sections of fire arms act.
