SANGLI: Nineteen aborted female fetuses were found dumped near a stream at a village in Sangli district of Maharashtra on Sunday , police said. While probing the case of a pregnant woman’s death during abortion, police reached the stream in Mhaisal village where it found the fetuses.
“So far, we have found the remains of 19 female fetuses.These fetuses were aborted and buried with an intention to dispose them of,” Sangli SP Dattatray Shinde said.
The 26-year-old woman had died during abortion at a private hospital in the village.
“As the villagers suspected foul play in the woman’s death, they approached police, following which the racket was busted,” Shinde said, adding the doctor suspected to be behind the racket is on the run.
