To mark the birth anniversary of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, schools in Mumbai took a break on academics and are hosting reading sessions and related activities.
The state government has announced October 15 as Vaachan Prerna Day or Reading Day in honour of the former president who died earlier this year.
Taking it a step further, the Mumbai region schools decided to call it the ‘No school bag day’.
At HVB Global Academy, Marine Drive, the students have the entire day dedicated to reading books authored by Kalam and viewing movies depicting his life.
At Hansraj Morarji Public School, Andheri, the students began their day by interacting with the editor of a regional daily newspaper.
