Mumbai: Samajwadi party demands revoking the closure of the Deonar slaughter house for two days of Paryushan

he Samajwadi party has sought to open the 1964 and 1994 Bombay municipal corporation resolution wherein the party has demanded revoking the closure of the Deonar Slaughter House for two days during the Jain festival of Paryushan. BJP, however, wants voting over the issue which is currently in progress.

There were 111 votes received in favor of the proposal being revoked and 24 votes against it.

There was a four day meat ban imposed in Mumbai this year during the period of Paryushan, out if which the Shiv Sena – a ruling party in the BMC – demanded that two days be revoked.

The notice of motion made to the Mumbai Mayor Snehal Ambekar in the BMC went totally unopposed even from the BJP. It is to be noted, just a fortnight ago, BJP MLAs and corporators had met the BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta seeking a complete eight day meat ban in Mumbai.
