Raghunath Dalvi, an inspector attached to Malad police station, and his aide, Manohar Bhandari, were arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a hotelier on Wednesday. Dalvi had earlier been transferred from the crime branch over allegations of ties with cricket bookies.
The two were remanded in police custody. Cops found 4.9 lakh in Dalvi’s office and some property documents at his house in Kandivli. The papers reveal that Dalvi and his wife own 1,000 sq ft two flats each in Kandivli’s Thakur Complex.
In another case, the ACB arrested Gyaneshwar Awate, a sub-inspector attached to Wada police station, for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. Awate was investigating a case of violations against a company and had sought a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh.
