Cong, NCP won’t contest in 27 villages

Congress and NCP have indicated that their candidates may not contest the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) elections in 27 villages. Residents in the hamlets have been demanding a seperate municipal council and do not want to be within the KDMC’s jurisdiction. Shiv Sena has decided to field its candidates while BJP, which was planning to boycott the polls initially, said it would enter the fray if other candidates filed their nominations
