A 55-year-old sub-inspector (name withheld) called the police control room and threatened to kill himself on Friday. The cop attached to the Jogeshwari police station made the call at around 2pm. Taking no chance, the senior cops immediately rushed to the caller’s Meghwadi residence and found him under depression. The police has asked the family members to be alongside to the sub-inspector so that he should not take any extreme step.
It was learnt that the sub-inspector has been under depression ever since a woman has lodged an FIR against him alleging he has been harassing her sending lewd text messages. “A departmental inquiry has been initiated against the sub-inspector after the woman complainant filed complaint two months ago for sending lewd messages,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone X) Vinayak Deshmukh.
The departmental inquiry is on based on the IPC section for outrage modesty and intentional insult to outrage modesty charged against him. “The cops who visited the sub-inspector’s Meghwadi home has counselled him in front of his family members,” said a police officer.
