Rs 3 crore jewellery burgled from Mulund store

A jeweller’s shop in Navghar in Mulund was burgled by unidentified men who broke into the shop and decamped with gold ornaments worth nearly Rs 3 crore. The burglars also broke the CCTV camera and DVR before fleeing with the booty.

This is the second case where burglars broke the CCTV cameras and DVR while committing the crime.

The Navghar burglary took place on Saturday night, when jeweller Suhash Khedkar went home after closing the shop. Next morning, locals informed him that his shop had been burgled. Khedkar reached the the shop to find gold and silver ornaments weighing almost 9 kg missing. “He found that the CCTV camera in the shop had been badly damaged. However, at least three miscreants were recorded in the footage retrieved from the hard disk of the DVR,” said an officer.

During further probe, it transpired that the CCTV camera of a neighbouring shop had caught all the three accused in the act.

“We are studying the footage and trying to identify the accused. We hope to crack the case soon,” said an officer on condition of anonymity.
