Traffic curbs in place for 4 days of Ganpati immersion

The traffic police have chalked out plans for the four different dates on which Ganesha immersion processions will take place in the city.

For smooth movement of traffic on September 18, 21, 23 and 27 — the four days for immersion processions — vehicular movement will be closed on 49 roads in the city’s five regions (from south, central, east, west and north) and one-way movement of traffic will be implemented on 55 locations.

Goods vehicles will be banned form 18 locations, excluding vehicles carrying Ganpati idols for immersion.

Parking restrictions have been implemented on 99 locations across the city 11 am to 6 am.

Joint commissioner of police (traffic) Milind Bharambe confirmed to TOI regarding the government order issued for traffic restrictions on procession dates in the city.

The order said the notification was issued under section 115 in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
