Mumbai: The state government is processing permissions for around 800 manufacturing industries to enable them to set up units here. These industries had signed MoUs with the government during the Make in India Week, said industry secretary Apurva Chandra.”The 800 MoUs, worth Rs 1.25 lakh crore, are part of the Rs 4 lakh crore MoUs signed with the manufacturing sector, including those for industrial infrastructure,” he said, adding Foxconn that had assured an investment of $5 billion has rented a couple of units in Navi Mumbai MIDC and will begin production from August. Chandra said the state is verifying if the industries had filed an application for land or wanted land to set up units and the status of their applications. The state has set up a panel under the chief secretary to review the situation on a regular basis.
Chandra said Maharashtra will be the first to offer land for industries along the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. “At Shendra in Aurangabad, we have already issued work orders to develop the land and have received applications from five multinationals.”
