Delhi University has reopened the online registration process for admission to post-graduate courses from Wednesday. It will continue till May 30 midnight.
The move came after many students complained that the university server was down for hours on Tuesday, the last day for submitting online applications, due to which they failed to submit their applications.
“The ‘Online Registration and Registration Fee Payment’ for applying to the Postgraduate/Masters courses shall reopen from 10pm of 25th May, 2016, and shall continue till the midnight of 30th May, 2016,” the registrar said in a statement.
Many students on Wednesday said they were unable to submit their online application for post-graduate courses and had lined up at dean students’ welfare office to submit a memorandum asking for an extension of the last date.
“My application was complete and I only had to pay the fees but the server was down in the evening. I tried from 6pm till midnight but it didn’t work,” said Pooja Jha, an applicant.
The university accepts only online applications for the post-graduate courses. The online registration started from April 28.
The university said those applicants who will confirm their registration till midnight May 30 will be permitted to submit online registration fees till 4pm on May 31.
This year, for the first time, the entrance tests for postgraduate courses will be conducted at six centres outside the national capital, in a move to help outstation applicants who may find it difficult to come to Delhi for the exams.
There are about 8,000 seats in 66 postgraduate courses. The all-India entrance tests will be conducted in Kolkata, Chennai, Jammu, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Varanasi.
This year the entrance exams will only have multiple-choice objective questions. The entrance exams will be conducted between June 18 and 24 and interviews will be completed by July 4.
The admission to postgraduate courses is granted through entrance exam and interview. However, departments reserve 50 % seats for direct admissions for students who have completed their undergraduate degree from DU
