There’s enough evidence to proceed with a case against Teri founder RK Pachauri who’s accused of sexually harassing a woman colleague, a Delhi court said on Saturday.
The court fixed July 11 as the date to supply a copy of the chargesheet to Pachauri.
The court said there’s enough material in the police chargesheet against Pachauri under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to sexual harassment.
Specifically, they are Sections 354-A, 354-B, 354-D, 509 and 341.
These are sections that deal with assault or criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, sexual harassment, stalking and gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman. The court dropped the charge of punishment for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the IPC, which the police had included in the chargesheet.
Despite allegations of sexual harassment against Pachauri, Teri in February elevated him to a newly-created post of Executive Vice Chairman. After a public outcry, Teri asked him to go on indefinite leave a few days later.
