Leader of opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil on Thursday condemned the decision of the Shashank Manohar-led BCCI for approving the India-Pakistan series in Sri Lanka.
“It is unfortunate that the BCCI took the decision on the day when the entire world is observing the anniversary of the worst ever terrorist attack on Mumbai on November 26, 2008. I am shocked that the BCCI is insisting on the series,” Vikhe Patil said.
Vikhe Patil asked NCP president Sharad Pawar to immediately step in and ensure that the series is cancelled. “In cricket circles, it is a well known fact that Manohar is Sharad Pawar’s man. Under such circumstances, Pawar must ensure that the series is cancelled,” the opposition leader said. “When Pakistan is still sponsoring terrorism, it is unfortunate that BCCI approved the event,” he said.
Vikhe said it was also shocking that the NDA government too has approved the event. “It reflects the double standards of the BJP. Shiv Sena, which is part of the government in the state as well as at the centre, must force the BCCI as well as the NDA government to cancel the series,” he said.
