Maharashtra’s additional chief secretary (health) Pradeep Vyas said that more than four crore individuals have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
The official also added that a total of 11.42 crore doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered in Maharashtra so far, with 74,287,818 people receiving a minimum of at least one dose of the vaccine.
The new variant “Omicron” has been a matter of concern and is said to be highly contagious and is also capable of frequent mutations. Infectious diseases experts, as well as public health professionals, say that rampant vaccination is the major factor in containing pandemic.
