On Tuesday, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said that the courses from the National Digital University may be offered from January and will be full-fledged from June-July in the coming year.

He has also added that it has been decided to revise the current guidelines of UGC to sync with the Digital University so that the guidelines become more flexible for the higher institutions.

He said “We are expecting that the Digital University will start offering some certificate and diploma courses from January 2023 onwards. We are aiming to start full-fledged degrees from next June-July onwards.” He added, “There are very advanced portals. We are likely to use them for our Digital University. It can be started off very quickly using these portals,” as quoted by Hindustan Times.

He said that “The present online regulations have certain restrictions such as prohibiting universities from collaborating with ed-tech companies. We are now reviewing them to make them as flexible as possible.”
