On Monday, Democratic Azad Party was formed by former J&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad who has vowed to follow Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals.
He has said that his party will not compete with anyone, but it will put its attention to strengthen peace initiatives for J&K to return to normalcy. He told reporters that, “We believe in development, democracy, freedom and independence for every member.”
He also said, “I received a list of around 1,500 names from supporters and colleagues across the country. Some were in Urdu and some in Sanskrit. But we wanted a name with a Hindustani word that would be understood by all.” “There will be no discrimination in our party, There will be no influence of religion and caste. People from different religions will join us.”
He added, Age won’t be a bar for anyone, and 50 percent representation will be given to women and youth.”
