Plans to extend the validity of Super Visa have been announced by Canada. Super Visa allows the visiting of parents and grandparents of current permanent residents and citizens. It has been announced by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that Super Visa holders are now allowed to stay for up to 5 years in the country.
An extension of two years can also be requested by current Super Visa holders already staying in Canada. In short, current Super Visa holders can now stay for up to a period of 7 years consecutively.
IRCC says that nearly 17,000 Super Visas are issued in a year. Another big change bought by the IRCC announcement is that in the future, coverage for Super Visa applicants will be provided by selected international medical insurance companies. The authority to designate these companies will be in the hands of Canada’s Immigration Minister.
