The Festive season has ended but the hangover has still remained. The mouthwatering dishes are still being consumed and health has been lowered down the priority lists. Nowadays, ‘No Routine’ is the New Routine. So then, how can one get back on-track? Who will give that push and the right guidance? Well, here is it, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is here to set the Routines right!

The FSSAI recently, after the major Festive season ended, posted a list of post-festival health tips.

1] Pro-Tip – BREAK-UP with Sugar for a while. Add Honey, Cinnamon or Nutmeg to make food sweet.

2] Whole Grains and Fresh Fibers (Fruits and Veggies) will help one’s Digestive System get back on track. Dietary fiber from whole grains or other foods, may help reduce blood cholesterol levels and may lower risk of heart disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. Fiber is important for proper bowel function. It helps reduce constipation and diverticulosis.

3] No More ‘Chai’ and Coffee! Tender coconut water, buttermilk, rice water and salted lemon water are some of the healthy drinks that could replenish your body. These are full of minerals and electrolytes that give you energy. Besides, it helps in keeping your body well hydrated as well.

4] Get that Body Movin’! Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently.

5] Start your day with a HEALTHY Breakfast. One, the body gets Energy. Two, a healthy breakfast may reduce the risk of illness and three, the more healthy you eat in the morning, the less junk you eat throughout your day.

6] Light Food at Night! When we eat during the night we burn less fat. Our body also finds it more difficult to process carbohydrates in the evening.

7] Chew 1 bite, 32 times! Researchers have found that, on average, slower eaters had a smaller waist circumference and lower body mass index. People who take time to chew slowly have better digestion and feel fuller, faster.

8] Water is the Key! Drink, Drink and Drink – H2O! Water

  • Aids digestion.
  • Prevents constipation.
  • Normalizes blood pressure.
  • Stabilizes the heartbeat.
  • Cushions joints.
  • Protects organs and tissues.
