On Wednesday, the Government of Delhi slashed Value Added Tax (VAT) on the fuel price from 30% to 19.40%, thus, making the petrol price cheap by Rs.8 per litre in Delhi.

It was in the Cabinet Meeting that this decision was taken by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. Soon after announcing this decision, taking it to Twitter, Kejriwal said that once implemented, the fuel price would become cheaper in the National Capital as compared to other cities in the Delhi region.

Last month on the eve of Diwali, the Centre had cut excise duty on petrol by Rs.5 per litre and Rs.10 per litre on diesel to bring down the retail prices across Delhi.
