India has been running world’s largest vaccination drive since the last 8 months and has already completed 50 million plus doses. But, the outrage about the vaccine certificate carrying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo has been rising since its print.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP and former journalist Kumar Ketkar asked a smiling question in the Parliament on whether it is necessary and compulsory to print photographs of the prime minister on the certificate of COVID-19 vaccination and who had made it compulsory.
MoS, Health and Family Welfare, Bharati Pravin Pawar responded to the question asked by Ketkar.
The Covid-19 vaccination certificates are issued from the CoWIN app and as per the Health Ministry, the format of the certificates are standardised and conform to the evolving WHO guidance on verifiable inoculation certificates.
