Key points:
- WandaVision’s first trailer restores Marvel’s Vision for Disney Plus TV debut.
- Released during the 2020 Emmys, the WandaVision trailer clocks in at a minute and 20 seconds that features the return of the star-crossed lovers as they live a seemingly great life as a married couple living in the suburbs.
The trailer for WandaVision, Marvel’s newest addition to its superhero universe, was revealed at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards on September 20. The American miniseries, placed as the first one in the Fourth Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is gearing up to be all kinds of weird (good weird). It features two characters who have gained supreme prominence in pop culture – Scarlet Witch and Vision – as a time-traveling couple, set in the aftermath of the events of the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame.
The trailer has a few punches which will make you laugh, while some others will make you think hard. Meanwhile, it doesn’t harm to think that Wanda’s powers grew, and she brought back Vision to life, and they started their own family. Starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff (alternatively Scarlet Witch) and Paul Bettany (Vision), who will reprise their roles from the Avengers film franchise, the series is set in a common neighborhood in the 1950s where the couple is leading a (seemingly) normal life which is slowly shaken by the sense that things aren’t as smooth as they seem. Thereafter, the story flits back and forth in time, as the couple tries to grapple with their changing reality.
Here’s the official synopsis for WandaVision, from Disney+:
“Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, WandaVision is a blend of a classic sitcom with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban life—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.”
The trailer has hinted that a whole new series could come up on Disney+Hotstar. No release date for the same has been announced yet. However, it is expected to release later this year in December, though the trailer simply says “coming soon”. It will be available on Disney+ Hotstar in India and Indonesia, and Disney+ wherever available. We haven’t had anything new from Marvel in 2020, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but WandaVision looks to fix the lack.
