She’s none other than the American actress and singer Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman . Now the Shake it Up starlet has made news by being  the youngest startlet to win the Emmy’s.

The 24-year-old , became emotional after she took home the trophy for her role in the HBO series Euphoria, scoring one of the few long shot victories Sunday night. Zendaya plays Rue Bennett, a teenage addict struggling with her sobriety and recovery on the series that delves into sex, drugs, trauma and identity among high schoolers in Euphoria.She is only the second Black actress to grab the lead drama actress award, following Viola Davis’ groundbreaking 2015 win for “How To Get Away With Murder.” 

Zendaya’s family and friends were euphoric as they screamed, cheered, hugged and cried behind her when the shocked actress accepted the award in what appeared to be a hotel suite.Zendaya pulled off a major triumph, as her fellow nominees included, Jennifer Aniston (‘The Morning Show’), ‘Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, Olivia Colman (‘The Crown’), and Laura Linney (‘Ozark’), as well as her co-stars and cast members. Zendaya said her “heart was filled” when she saw her fellow nominees, including FRIENDS sitcom starlet Jennifer Aniston, cheering on the “Euphoria” actress for becoming the youngest drama lead actress to win an Emmy.

In the virtual backstage interview she stated,”I usually don’t cry.I got through it without letting it take over me. It was a very emotional moment. I still can’t believe it myself. It’s pretty crazy.” Talking about her character and role in the film, she said,“I just want to say there is hope in the young people out there”.

“I know our TV show doesn’t always feel like a great example of that,” but she thanked them for “doing the work.”

She further continued,

“I think it’s moments like this that we really have to hold on to and cherish,’’ said the actress, who overcame a strong group of nominees.

Zendaya said she was grateful to cherish the moment with family and friends despite the corona virus pandemic, which has restricted interaction with near and dear ones. 

Ending her on the spot speech, she said,

” I definitely felt like this wrapping of love around me as I was sitting here,” Zendaya continued. “I’m just trying to take it all in. Just being grateful for the moments that we do have of joy and happiness.”

The actress also took to Twitter and Instagram to state her victory and tweeted,” Still don’t really have any words….feeling so much love right now, thank you.”

This year the award show was held virtually owing to the inhibition of public gatherings due to the pandemic.
