16-year-old Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa stuns World Champion Magnus Carlsen at Airthings Masters

In the 8th round of the ongoing Airthings Masters which is an online rapid chess competition, 16-year-old Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa has stunned the world champion, Magnus Carlsen. 

On Monday, Praggnanandhaa has won black pieces in 39 moves in a Tarrasch variation game so as to halt Carlsen’s game of three continuous wins.

R Praggnanandhaa is a chess prodigy and is the fifth-youngest person to achieve the title of Grandmaster behind Abhimanyu Mishra, Sergey Karjakin, Gukesh D, and also Javokhir Sindarov. 

In 2013, Praggnanandhaa had won the World Youth Chess Championships under-8 title which earned him the title of Fide Master when he was 7.
