The Central Government pensioners will now be able to receive their pensions slips from the banks through SMS and WhatsApp. The slip will be provided including all the details of the monthly paid pension along with the break-up of the credited amount and tax deductions. “Accordingly, the undersigned is directed to request all Pension Disbursing Banks to issue pension slip to pensioners after credit of pension on their registered mobile number through SMS and email (wherever available) also,” read an order from the department of pension and pensioners welfare. It also said that, “Banks may also use social media apps WhatsApp, etc in addition to SMS and email.”
It was in the meeting of Central Pension Processing Centres (CPPCs) of the pension disbursing banks on 15 June in order to ensure ‘ease of living’ of the pensioners.
In an office memorandum, the department of pension and pensioners welfare under the ministry of personnel has said that, “The CPPCs of Pension disbursing banks are requested to ensure compliance of the above instructions for improving the ‘ease of living’ for pensioners.”
The department of pension and pensioners welfare has noted that complete information about the pension is required by the pensioners in connection with the income tax, dearness relief payment, DR arrears, etc. It also said that the banks have welcomed the idea and have also expressed their willingness to give information to the pensioners.
On providing the information, the department has said that, “The pension slip should provide complete details of monthly pension paid along with break-up of the amount credited and tax deductions etc. if any.”
The department has also requested the CPPCs of the pension disbursing banks to ensure compliance of the instructions for improving the ‘ease of living’ for the pensioners.
