“A Dalit family said we fed them (BJP leaders) from our pocket, how can we pay the amount? I will tell my workers that when you see something like that, then pay them,” she said taking a dig at BJP leaders eating food with Dalit families on their visit to West Bengal adding she would ask her party workers to pay money to those hosting them. Calling BJP a ‘venomous snake’, the TMC chief asked the people of Purulia to reject the party.
BJP and TMC have been accusing each other of creating trouble in their election rallies. On Monday, the BJP claimed that the TMC workers had attacked its rally in South Kolkata. Sharing a video, the Bengal unit of BJP said: “Incorrigible TMC goons showing their true colours by starting violence during BJP’s South Kolkata roadshow! No wonder they are anxious by the people’s support for BJP! This is a direct and violent attack on democracy!”
Banerjee’s comments come after her announcement of contesting from Nandigram, a seat that was earlier held by rebel Suvendhu Adhikari who joined the BJP.
