On Thursday, as the Congress leader Varsha Gaikwad stepped down from the position of Maharashtra School Education Minister, she announced two major decisions. The first announcement is that of the “Happiness Curriculum”. This will be introduced for std 1-8 including all the government schools as well as aided Marathi medium schools.

“It was an honor to serve Maharashtra as the School Education Minister these past 2.5 years. I am glad we could take up steps to better a child’s school-going experience in the state,” the minister said on social media.

The second announcement was that of a 15% concession in the qualifying marks for the defense personnel as well as the families of the martyred soldiers in the Teacher Eligibility Test in the state.

Gaikwad said in a tweet, “Protecting the country is the greatest service to the nation. It is our duty to stand by them and their families.”
