UP government bulldozes “illegal” Rohingya camps from its land in Delhi

On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh’s Irrigation Department officials bulldozed a land portion in Delhi’s Madanpur Khadar.

Among this, some tents were set up by the Rohingya refugees.

The refugees who’s tents got demolished in the anti-encroachment drive alleged that a Mosque had also been toppled. 

The drive was a part of an illegal structure demolition as per officials.

As reported by AlJazeera, a mosque, made up of tarpaulin sheets and bamboo sticks, was bulldozed at about 7am local time (01:30 GMT) on Thursday, at the camp located in New Delhi’s Madanpur Khader area in the city’s south, bordering Uttar Pradesh state.

On the contrary, Vishwendra, District Magistrate, Southeast Delhi said that there was no resemblance of a Mosque but it was just a Jhuggi.
