UGC asks universities to encourage students to take “Cow Science” exam.

The Universal Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all the university’s vice chancellors across India to encourage students to take the Cow Science exam also known and Gau Vigyaan. It will be an online national level exam for which there will be no registeration fee. The exam is set to be conducted on Feb 25.

Apart from English and Hindi language, this exam is set to be conducted in 10 different languages including Gujarati, Tamil,Punjabi, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Odia.

In a letter to vice chancellors, UGC secretary Rajnish Jain said that, “I write this to request you, to give wide publicity to this initiative and encourage students to enroll or register themselves for this examination. This may also be brought to the notice of the colleges affiliated to your university.”

Jain also asked universities to inform colleges affiliated to them about the exam.

Aayog had announced this plan to conduct an online examination on cow science for people to know the importance of cows, to build curiosity among them and to sensitise and educate them.

Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog (RKA) will be conducting this exam to which students from primary, secondary and senior secondary schools and colleges can attempt this exam. Apart from students, even the common public can attempt this exam which is said to be an online MCQ exam.

According to the RKA, the objective of this exam is to instill “curiosity into all Indians about cows and make them aware of the unexplored potential and business opportunities a cow can offer, even after it stops giving milk.”

In a statement, the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying had said, “Certificates will be given to all. Successful meritorious candidates will be given prizes and certificates…”
