Despite of the pandemic, social distancing norms are being openly violated and large number of people are roaming without masks. In general, the Shahi snans and the Kumbh Mela has triggered rising concerns over their role in the possibility of adding the number of covid cases in the country.

On the social media, public is demanding to stop the ongoing Kumbh Mela right away. Meanwhile, there are people who are not against to stop the ongoing Kumbh Mela. They urge that the Mela should be carried on and no one should interfere with faith.

However, during such controversial times, Mr. Harsh Goenka, who is the Chairman of RPG Group, he holds the company of CEAT tyres, had put up a joke on twitter about Sadhus at the Kumbh Mela. The tweet has been deleted since he received negative remarks for his tweet. His tweet is seen to be Hinduphobic. Previous jokes posted by him on Twitter are shared again on twitter.

Some people believe that the joke should not be taken seriously, but some have been offended already. They have called for boycotting CEAT tyres.

The Kumbh Mela controversies have raised serious concerns amid the second wave of pandemic. While the nation is following Covid-19 protocols and Guidelines, Covid positive cases keeps on rising. According to the officials,in just 48 hours, over 1,000 people were found to be Covid positive in Haridwar where around 35 lakh people gathered for the Kumbh Mela and ‘Shahi Snaan’ as a majority of devotees are seen flouting the Coronavirus norms such as maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.
