Happy Teacher’s Day! Celebrating Dr. RadhaKrishna Sarvapalli’s birth anniversary or popularly known as Teacher’s Day, here are some Bollywood movies about all those inspirational teachers out there.

SUPER 30

Inspired by real-life mathematician Anand Kumar, portrayed by Hrithik Roshan, the film revolves around the program run by Mr. Kumar under the name Super 30 who teaches 30 ill-fated students for IIT in free cost. The film also sends out the message that a teacher never sees a student’s social status before teaching. The dialogue “Ab Raja Ka Beta Raja Nahi banega, Raja wahi banega Jo hakdaar hoga” also tells that it is ultimately a student’s hard work and caliber which matters.

TAARE ZAMEEN PAR

Every child longs for a teacher in the disguise of a friend like Ram Shankar Nikumbh or fondly known as Nikumbh Sir. Aamir Khan delivers the role perfectly as he is instated as the art teacher in the dyslexic Ishaan Awasthi’s boarding school. He comes as the guardian angel in Ishaan’s life when Ishaan was shunned by his school and boarding teachers and also by his dad who all thought he’s a slacker. It was Nikumbh sir who understood Ishaan’s condition and held his hand and made him climb the ladders of success. The movie conveys the challenges and dedication of a teacher as he has to educate and bond with students with a bunch of different personalities.

SHAKUNTALA DEVI

Vidya Balan steps into the role of the Human-Computer, Shakuntala Devi. The movie shows her journey and how she makes a dreaded subject like Maths easy and fun for the kids. The movie clearly depicts that a teacher is certainly a second mother to all those students out there and how much time a professor has to dedicate for a fun and engaging lecture.

BLACK

A must watch film, both Amitabh Bacchan and Rani Mukherjee brilliantly played their roles of Debraj Sahai and Michelle Mc-Nally and their own fights. Initially disapproving of Debraj’s methods, Michelle’s parents later deem him the best teacher for their daughter and how he helps Michelle graduate making her the first blind and deaf girl to do so. Later the film shows how Debraj is struck with Alzheimer’s and forgets everything and how Rani Mukherjee steps into the role of an educator to make Debraj remember and learn the things he’s forgotten.
