Keypoints:
- Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole has said that, “Instead of co-ordinating with the central government to ensure the state gets adequate medical aid, Fadnavis and other BJP leaders in the state only want to work to put the state government into trouble.”
- Patole has asked Fadnavis to set aside political differences and support the state in its efforts to tackle the Covid pandemic.
- The state’s daily need is 50,000 Remdesivir injections daily and the Centre has allocated only 26,000 vials per day.
On Thursday, Maharashtra Congress Chief Nana Patole asked the leader of opposition, Devedra Fadnavis to set aside his political differences and to support the state in the efforts to tackle Covid situation.
In a statement, Patole, who’s party shares its power in the state with Shiv Sena and NCP has said that the need of the hour is to see how lives of the citizens can be saved by providing them with Remedesivir and oxygen.
“Instead of co-ordinating with the central government to ensure the state gets adequate medical aid, Fadnavis and other BJP leaders in the state only want to work to put the state government into trouble,” he alleged.
Patole said that instead of “behaving irresponsibly”, Fadnavis and BJP leaders of other states should be the “voice of Maharashtra” at the Centre. He also asked Fadnavis to leave his political differences and support his state.
Patole added that Covid-19 is a ‘national calamity’ and the state has to struggle to procure medicines and medical equipment from the Centre.
“Fadnavis should become the voice of Marathi people in Delhi. If Fadnavis and other BJP leaders can show haste in getting a Remdesivir black-marketeer released from police station, they should show similar urgency in saving people’s lives,” the Congress leader said.
The state needs 50,000 Remdesivir injections daily and the Centre has allocated only 26,000 vials per day. “Such bias is not good,” Patole said.
Remdesivir is listed to be used for serious patients hit by the virus. There has been huge spike in COVID cases due to which the demand for Remdesivir has increased too. Hence, last week, the Centre banned it’s export until the situation gets better.
“Amid the pandemic, the Centre was exporting Remdesivir and oxygen to other countries. Instead of paying attention to constructive suggestions of Congress leaders, the BJP mocked them,” Patole alleged.
