On May 4, 2022, MLA Ravi Rana and MP Navneet Rana were granted bail by a Mumbai court. They were arrested after they declared publicly that they will recite Hanuman Chalisa outside the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The Rana’s have been named accused of two FIRs – the charges of sedition, promoting enmity and assaulting a public servant to prevent the discharge of duty.
MLA Ravi Rana and MP Navneet Rana were arrested on April 23 after they had canceled their plans of reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside the private residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray – Matoshree.
Special Judge RN Rokade granted them bail and said that a similar offence shall not be committed by them while they are on bail and they shall not address the press on anything that is case related.
