Prophet row: Owaisi, Naveen Jindal among 31 booked for allegedly making inflammatory remarks and ‘promoting enmity’

At least 31 people, along with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddinn Owaisi have been booked for allegedly making inflammatory remarks and also promoting enmity among various groups. In the same FIR, Naveen Jindal, an expelled BJP spokesperson is also named.

The FIR lodged by the police reads “One such tweet was posted by Naveen Kumar Jindal from his handle ‘@naveenjindalbjp’ which used words and language against Prophet Muhammad. These words which were used by Jindal were highly provocative and more than sufficient to incite feeling of hatred amongst people which could be detrimental to maintenance of public tranquility (sic).”

The FIR adds “Recently, there has been wide circulation of the words, language which were used by Jindal in the above mentioned tweet on social media (sic). The tweet had been analysed and it is revealed that he used certain words for Prophet Muhammad which are not reproduced (in the FIR) considering the sensitivity of the issue.”
