A thread involving threats by al-Qaida as well as comments against Prophet Mohammad and suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma has led to cyber attacks on Indian websites including government and private.

The Indian Embassy in Israel, the National Institute of Agriculture Extension Management, and the e-portal of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research were among the other online platforms that were targeted by a series of attacks by a hacktivist group DragonForce Malaysia.

The group has hacked nearly 70 websites including educational institutions like the Delhi Public School, Bhavans, and a few groups of colleges in India. Over 50 websites were seen to be defaced in Maharashtra itself.

The group sent out a common message through audio clips and texts – “For you is your religion and for me is my religion.”
