Monday morning, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine that is ‘Made-In-India’; the ‘COVAXIN’ by Bharat Biotech International Limited at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
The Prime Minister tweeted about being vaccinated and also said that the ones who are eligible in the second phase of vaccination, they should get injected with it as soon as possible. PM Modi wore an Assamese scarf around his neck and also appreciated the country’s healthcare workers and scientists for their role in the battle against the pandemic.
The Prime Minister arrived at AIIMS, Delhi early morning showing his spirit to take the vaccine. Sister P Niveda from Puducherry immunized the Prime Minister at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences with the first dose of Covaxin, while another nurse Rosamma Ali from Kerala stood behind them in a photograph that the PM tweeted.
The ‘ASSAMESE’ scarf is being focused on as Assam is to see their elections later this month where the scarf is being seen a symbolical interpretation of gaining support from the state.
Kerala and Puducherry are home to a large number of healthcare workers across India, but the Prime Minister’s picture with the two nurses is also being seen to have political overtones as both regions are headed for elections on April 6.

Sister P Niveda learnt it in the morning that PM Narendra Modi was to visit AIIMS for the jab. She has been with AIIMS for three years now. “I am posted at the vaccine centre. I was called. We found out PM sir is coming today. It was great to meet PM sir,” she said also mentioning that the PM will need his second dose in 28 days.
