Yesterday, on 2nd of May, the Bharatiya Janata Party lost the overall Bengal elections to West Bengal’s CM Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. With Banerjee registering an overall win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the TMC supremo for her party’s victory in the West Bengal Assembly election.
On Sunday, the PM tweeted saying, “Congratulations to Mamata Didi for TMC’s win in West Bengal. The Centre will continue to extend all possible support to the West Bengal government to fulfil people’s aspirations and also to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.” This came in as the official Election Commission of India (ECI) trends showed that the ruling TMC was leading in more than 200 of West Bengal’s 294 assembly constituencies.
Not ignoring the fact that BJP has significantly increased its tally in the West Bengal Assembly from 3 in 2016 to atleast 78 in 2021.
Adding in, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I would like to thank my sisters and brothers of West Bengal who have blessed our party. From a negligible presence earlier, the BJP’s presence has significantly increased. The BJP will keep serving the people. I applaud each and every karyakarta for their spirited effort in the polls.”
Ms Banerjee, as of now, has named 213 seats under Trinamool Congress showing a single handed victory over the West Bengal elections.
The Union Minister Rajnath Singh, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Ex-CM Uttar Pradesh Mayawati, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, SP Leader Akhilesh Yadav and many more extended their good wishes to the Bengal Chief Minister and then came the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Congratulations.
Though the TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee got an overall win on her name, she lost her seat in the Nandigram constituency. BJP candidate and her former aide Suvendu Adhikary won the seat in Nandigram.
