Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala High Court on Monday said that what was wrong in having Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photo on the Covid-19 vaccination certificate while hearing a plea seeking the removal of the prime minister’s picture from the certificate.
Justice PV Kunhikrishnan asked the petitioner why he was ashamed of having the prime minister’s photo on the Covid-19 vaccination certificate. “He came to power through our mandate. Merely because you have political differences, you cannot challenge this,” the judge told the petitioners counsel.

When the petitioner’s counsel argued that in foreign countries there was no such practice of having PM’s photograph, the judge said, “they may not be proud of their Prime Minister, but we are proud of ours. You should be proud that your vaccination certificate carries the photograph of our PM.”
“Why are you (petitioner) ashamed of the Prime Minister? He came to power through the mandate of the people…we may have different political views, but he is still our PM,” the court further said.
The petitioner, Peter Myaliparampil, through his counsel, argued that the COVID vaccination certificate was a private space with personal details on record and therefore adding PM’s picture was an intrusion into an individual’s private space.
