The University Grants Commission (UGC) has finalized new regulations on the award of Ph.D. degrees that state that the students who have a minimum CGPA score of 7.5/10 in the four-year undergraduate programme will now be eligible to take Ph.D. admissions, without the need to complete a master’s programme.
By the end of June, the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for the Ph.D) Regulations 2022 will be announced and will come into effect from the academic session of 2022-23.
Under the National Education Policy, the regulation state that “a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8 semester Bachelor’s degree should have a minimum CGPA of 7.5/10.” New regulations say that 40% of the seats can be filled by universal-level tests.
