On Tuesday, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has announced that the toll plazas with 60 kms on the national highways will be removed in the coming three months.
The Minister, in Lok Sabha said that “There will be only one toll collection within 60 km distance.” He also said, “There are complaints that two toll plazas have been set up within a 60 km distance on highways. We will ensure that there is a minimum gap of 60 km between two toll plazas on national highways.
He also said that free passes will be issued by the government to the local residents near the toll plazas that will be based on their Aadhaar addresses. He added that they will consider the Aadhaar card as an address proof and only they will receive free passes.
