On Saturday, January 2, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the Covid-19 vaccines will be provided ‘Free of Cost’ to almost 3 crore ‘Frontline Workers’ in the first base of the mega vaccination drive in India.
“In first phase of COVID-19 Vaccination, free vaccine shall be provided across the nation to most prioritized beneficiaries that include 1 crore healthcare and 2 crore frontline workers,” Vardhan wrote on Twitter.

The Delhi government, also on Saturday clarified that not just the frontline workers, but all residents of the city, who are eligible, will get the Covid-19 vaccines for free.
Harsh Vardhan’s remarks come after the country moved a step closer to get the Covid-19 vaccine that has affected a crore people in India.
“Not just in Delhi, it will be free across the country,” Dr Harsh Vardhan said on being asked if the Covid-19 vaccine will be provided free of cost. Adding in, Harsh Vardhan said that the details of the upcoming 27 Cr. priority beneficiaries to be vaccinated until July are being finalized.
After the dry run reviewing of administering the Covid-19 Vaccine at the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital in Delhi, the Health Minister said, “Feedbacks received after the dry run in four states were included in guidelines for vaccination and today’s dry run in all states/UTs is being conducted as per new guidelines. Except for giving the actual vaccine, every procedure is being followed during the drill.”

“I appeal to people not to pay heed to rumors. Ensuring safety and efficacy of vaccine is our priority. Different kinds of rumors were spread during polio immunization but people took the vaccine and India is now polio-free,” he said in a prior address.
