No actions against Dhananjay Munde until proven guilty: Sharad Pawar

If allegations are true then it becomes our responsibility to take action.” Said NCP supremo Sharad Pawar addressing the recent heat party leader Dhananjay Munde has been facing. Pawar says that the allegations are serious and the party will discuss the issue with key colleagues and take them into confidence.

Party leader Dhananjay Munde has been accused of rape charges. On Jan 11 2021 the woman filed a written complaint to the Mumbai police commissioner, stating that Munde had repeatedly raped her in 2006. She also came out on social media and shared that she earlier approached the Oshiwara police station but was turned away by the police.

In his defense Munde (45), who is a married man with a family, said in a statement that accusations were part of a conspiracy to blackmail him.

“The allegations made against me are false and are part of a conspiracy to blackmail and extort money from me,” Munde said. He added that he had proof in the form of text messages sent by the complainant, demanding money from him.

Munde said that since 2019, the woman with whom he was in a relationship and the complainant had been blackmailing him. Munde further said that he had filed a complaint with the police last November and also moved the Bombay High Court seeking a stay on the distribution of defamatory content against him. The matter is being heard by the court at present. He also said that the relationship was consensual and even has two children from the relationship who bear his name on all the legal documents.

The controversy took a drastic twist when two political leaders including  BJP MLA accusing the women of blackmailing them. The claim by BJP MLA Krishna Hedge has put the party on a bit of a back foot.
