Neena Gupta is an Indian Statistical Institute’s professor and has been awarded the Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians for her work in affine algebraic geometry and commutative algebra.
As per the Ministry of Science and Technology, Neena Gupta is the fourth Indian to receive this prize and is the third woman to ever receive this award.
There are a dozen awards already on her academic CV, but she says that this one is the most special. She said, “Till date, people recognize us Indians, coming from the land of Ramanujan. I feel honored that I have got an award named after him.”
